VR Technology Can Treat Psychological Trauma Effective For Anxiety, Phobia, Schizophrenia, Etc.

VR technology can be applied to traumatic psychotherapy. On June 2, 2018, the Inaugural Conference and Symposium for the Psychological Assistance and Trauma Therapy Professional Committee of Sichuan Association of Psychological Counselors was held at Xihua University.

Professor Li Yuan, deputy director of the Psychological Health Education Professional Committee of the Sichuan Psychology Association, also specifically introduced the current status of VR technology in traumatic psychotherapy. According to her introduction, VR technology has been applied to psychotherapy for more than 20 years and was first applied to the treatment of various kinds of phobias. At present, it deals with anxiety, phobia, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), attention deficit, and spirit. There are good therapeutic effects in terms of division and other aspects. VR technology can be combined with exposure therapies to create a new treatment technology, virtual reality exposure technology, that is effective in treating PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). It is to use virtual reality technology to expose patients to the virtual situation of anxiety source, so that they can face the fear in the real world.
